Even if it ends up being just a nice read, it’s still all okay. As much as I was irritated that James wasn’t man enough to fight for the woman he loved I could probably have dealt with him walking away if it hadn’t been for the cheating.

James leaves, which makes sense with his honor-bound character of the first sixty pages as I said, character building isn’t Eloisa James’s problem and Theo believing what her father-in-law says makes sense for someone so insecure. And so is this th. I think that Theo had every right to her heartbreak and anger, and I don’t think that she did anything inexcusable. The couple does spend time apart, not my favorite plot device by a long shot, and when they do reunite they are mostly different people, having learned control and restraint.
James, out of guilt and embarrassment, obliged her wish and set off to pursue a rather long journey to the sea in hope of never ducehss return. But it honestly didn’t bother me to the point that I couldn’t forgive. And, he only came back then because he’d nearly lost his life.

The book had some exceptionally grand moments and some depressingly conflicting issues. A good man who did tue wrong thing for the right reasons becomes a complete ass who shows no care for anyone for several years and 2. I liked that, when she discovered that James only married her for her money that’s not a spoiler, it says it on the cover of the book – view spoiler [that he caved to pressure from his father to marry her, against his wishes, in order to cover up the fact that his father was not just broke, but had embezzled her money as well hide spoiler ] – she won me over because she stood up for herself.

I truly enjoyed this book and I didn’t mind the cheating as he thought the marriage was over during they separated. I thought James becoming a pirate was a nice surprising twist.
It’d have been easy for him to track Theo down, but a lot harder to track James. Now James faces the battle of his life, convincing Theo that he loves the duckling who blossomed into the swan. Up to this point, this had been a three to four star read for me and it immediately dropped to a one. That’s how little impact it had on me. I read this the first time in my eloiwa HR days.
